The Secret of Isobel KeyAbout the book
Lou is in the middle of a quarter-life crisis. Fresh out of college, sheโ€™s unemployed and unsure of herself. But when she gets the chance to escape to Scotland with her best friend, it could be the answer to her quest for self-discovery. The trip is not at all what she expected, especially when her tour guide turns out to be the dreamy historian Brian, and together they embark on a hunt for information about Isobel Key, a woman accused of witchcraft in the seventeenth century.

They set out to learn the truth of the condemned witch, but Lou isnโ€™t prepared for the knowledge that awaits her. She must face her own demons if she has any hope of righting the wrongs of the past.

Flashing between seventeenth century Scotland and a contemporary romance, THE SECRET OF ISOBEL KEY is a mystery that will please readers of all ages.

Why I am excited

There are actually three main reasons why I am very excited for the release of The Secret of Isobel Key.
1. It’s New Adult, but it’s not set in college. I have always said that I wanted to read more books set in college, but now that I’m in my last year of college I’ve been wanting to read about someone who is just out of college. And the main character is described as being in a quarter-life crisis. Well, I CAN RELATE.
2. It’s about witches! I love books with witches! I’m still in love with the paranormal genre.
3. But the last AND MOST IMPORTANT draw for me tot this book is that the main characters go to SCOTLAND. I haven’t talked about this before on the blog, but I’m seriously in love with the country. So yeah, if there is a book set in Scotland, I WILL READ IT. The book trailer features photos from Scotland made my Jen herself. I have lived and studied abroad in Edinburgh last semester, so of course I have a LOT of photos from the country. So I decided to share some of my own Scotland photos to make you feel excited for both the book AND the country!

Edinburgh Castle (Did you know this was J.K. Rowling’s inspiration for creating Hogwarts?)Edinburgh Castle

Snowy hills
Scotland snowy mountains

And that was all I’m going to share for now, I’m sure I’ll be writing about Scotland again soon. Anyway, let me know what you think! And if you pre-order The Secret of Isobel Key (like I sure did) you can enter this giveaway to win some swag!

  1. Witches! It’s set in college! That’s great, both I enjoy very much so I’ll add this to the pile of titles on my GoodReads that I still wish to read haha.
By the way, I did not know that the castle in the picture was J.K. Rowling’s inspiration for Hogwards, but when looking at the picture I can see why ๐Ÿ™‚
Just subscribed to your blog by email, gotta support my fellow Dutch bloggers (that blog in English!)

    • Yes I can see why she felt inspired, too! It was great walking there and imagining J.K. Rowling walking there and thinking up Hogwarts.
YES for supporting fellow Dutch bloggers, I follow you too ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I always find it rather amusing when people say they love Scotland but it’s only because I live here so whilst I appreciate that it can be pretty, I see it all the time so I never stop to truly appreciate it if that makes sense?

On another note it was refreshing to hear someone talk about Scotland since normally it’s just ENGLAND, ENGLAND, ENGLAND. So this was a nice change of pace for me!
