Today I can share with you the book trailer for The Secret of Isobel Key by Jen McConnel. The Secret of Isobel Key is part of the new digital imprint Bloomsbury Spark and will be released December 19th of this year. First I will show you the book trailer, but please do scroll down to see my reasons for wanting this book!
About the book
Lou is in the middle of a quarter-life crisis. Fresh out of college, she’s unemployed and unsure of herself. But when she gets the chance to escape to Scotland with her best friend, it could be the answer to her quest for self-discovery. The trip is not at all what she expected, especially when her tour guide turns out to be the dreamy historian Brian, and together they embark on a hunt for information about Isobel Key, a woman accused of witchcraft in the seventeenth century.
They set out to learn the truth of the condemned witch, but Lou isn’t prepared for the knowledge that awaits her. She must face her own demons if she has any hope of righting the wrongs of the past.
Flashing between seventeenth century Scotland and a contemporary romance, THE SECRET OF ISOBEL KEY is a mystery that will please readers of all ages.
Why I am excited
There are actually three main reasons why I am very excited for the release of The Secret of Isobel Key.
1. It’s New Adult, but it’s not set in college. I have always said that I wanted to read more books set in college, but now that I’m in my last year of college I’ve been wanting to read about someone who is just out of college. And the main character is described as being in a quarter-life crisis. Well, I CAN RELATE.
2. It’s about witches! I love books with witches! I’m still in love with the paranormal genre.
3. But the last AND MOST IMPORTANT draw for me tot this book is that the main characters go to SCOTLAND. I haven’t talked about this before on the blog, but I’m seriously in love with the country. So yeah, if there is a book set in Scotland, I WILL READ IT. The book trailer features photos from Scotland made my Jen herself. I have lived and studied abroad in Edinburgh last semester, so of course I have a LOT of photos from the country. So I decided to share some of my own Scotland photos to make you feel excited for both the book AND the country!
And that was all I’m going to share for now, I’m sure I’ll be writing about Scotland again soon. Anyway, let me know what you think! And if you pre-order The Secret of Isobel Key (like I sure did) you can enter this giveaway to win some swag!
